Hawke Enterprising provides a vast array of Information Technology services.

Hawke retired in 2004 from the Information Technology industry, but still provides, pro bono publico or fee based, consulting and guest speaking by special arrangment.

Hawke has been working with computers and information technologies since 1979, providing software development and consulting services since 1981, security services since 1989 and Information Security services since 1996.

He has a degree in Computer Science, and a number of certifications including:

  • SANS GIAC-GCIH (Information Security - SysAdmin, Audit, Network, Security - Global Information Assurance Certification - GIAC Certified Incident Handler)
  • MCP+I (Microsoft Certified Professional plus Internet)
  • MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer)
  • CNA (Certified Netware Administrator)
  • SCSA 7 p1 (Sun Solaris 7 Certified Systems Administrator p1)

Hawke has for many years been a very proactive advocate for security, both at the physical and "virtual" levels.

He also is a strong advocate for, and has been working with, Open Source products such as Linux since 1994.

  From 2004 through 2007 Hawke was the host of a radio (and Internet) broadcast show known as "Tech Talk With Hawke" (Formerly part of The Synthetic Zen Show) focusing on technologies impacting privacy, security, and civil rights.

Rates

Rates may be negotiable, but as a guideline please consult the following (all rates in US Dollars):

  • Public speaking or consulting for advocacy, non-profit, or educational institutions, please contact Hawke directly for possible reduced rates or pro bono publico options.
  • Public speaking: $80/hr plus expenses (for Non-pro-bono-publico).
  • Local on-site consulting or hands-on technical services in the Spokane / Cour d'Alene (greater Eastern Washington / Northern Idaho) areas: $120 /hr. plus expenses. Additional charges may also apply for travel time if greater than 50 miles from Spokane.
  • Non-local on-site services (USA): $150 / hr plus expenses.
  • International on-site services: $250 / hr plus expenses.
  • Software architecture/design/scoping or team management (Java, Web, Python, Zope/Plone, Interchange, BroadVision, LAMP, and others): $80/hr (local), $120/hr (USA, plus expenses), $150/hr (international, plus expenses).
  • Java and Python hands-on coding negotiable based on project assessment. Assessment and scoping at standard consulting rates.
  • Remote systems administration or consulting work: $60 / hr.
